This book is a fantastic and most enjoyable read with a stunning story line and a crisp narrative. Around chapter 5 you are catapulted into an exciting plot twist and I hated to put the book down when other duties called. This book is solid and kept me engaged in every chapter. The story gave me lots to chew on and at times I would have to put the book down, get quiet, and just process it. I really love to be challenged and this story-line forced me to take a really good look at my own heart, faith, and motives.Don't hesitate - read it now!

I really enjoyed this book. Unfortunately, I know a church leader like the one in the book so I could relate to the book personally. The mixer of the seemingly two different story lines was refreshing as they came together toward the end. This is a wonderful read and if you have a kindle I'd drop the cash and find a good hammock.
Great read! Grabbed and held my interest from page one. Insightful portrayal of the absolute power and influence of a large, established organization and the complete and utter devastation that can reign down on unsuspecting, innocent individuals as a result of that power. An amazingly brilliant debut novel.
I find this book somewhat prophetic. The way the world is declining in moral integrity, the state of control of our freedoms are being assaulted more frequently. The fresh awareness the book gives that God is in control is uplifting and inspiring. I can really relate to the situations the characters have to experience in thier everyday trials. I appreciate and admire the imagination of the author. It's a great theme and story!
I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to say something about this. What an Awesome read! It truly made me think more about my Faith and Beliefs than I had in a long time. The characters described in this story are here in the world today. The Light of the Phoenix has encouraged my Faith and Christian walk. I think people who have grown up in the faith can become stagnant and after finishing this book I do miss the exciting times of becoming a new Christian, to depend on other people and to fight for what is right. The single focus of just getting to know God and nothing else. If the author's goal was to create an exciting story, one that Encourages and draws you closer to God and makes you think about your own beliefs, than that is exactly what he has done. I was looking for more from this author but could not find any - I believe it is his debut and if that's the case I will be keeping my eye out for more from him.
All I can say is amazing! A must read and I hope he writes more books. Mr. Dean has a gift and I hope he shares more of it.
